Cable Testing With Extension Cables

A hand held medical test device needed a custom designed "bed of pogo pins" to make contact with test points on the face of the plastic case. Cirris fabricated the black test block to make contact with each test point yet allow easy placement and removal from the jig.	1 of 2 This photo illustrates just how awkward some devices are that needed to be tested. The test points on this connector are each of the metal screws which are at varied relative positions. (The test jig is to the right.)	2 of 2 Cirris fabricated this cylindrical test block with pogo pin test points that make contact with each screw at their various elevations. The test person slides his connector assembly into the test block (it is keyed) and presses down to lock the connector in place. The test is then conducted.

This connector was designed as a "flexible" PCB transition connector test fixture. We have have offered for years some standard PCB transition board adapters, but this customer wanted one that could be held in his hand. There are pogo pins behind each hole in the black plastic. This photo illustrates another hybrid Extension Cable arrangement. Here the customer's connectors are mounted on a box assembly which inturn is attached to the cable tester via a 8 foot cable.
