Cirris Trade-In Policy *

Cirris Systems allows customers to trade back old test equipment for newer models or towards testers with greater functionality. Test equipment being traded-in must have been purchased direct from Cirris or through an authorized reseller or distributor. (This policy excludes testers that have been purchased on the used market or from companies that have claimed bankruptcy or had a business re-organization that resulted in non-payment of the original test equipment that's to be traded-in.) Expansion boxes that attach to the base tester are included in the aggregate cost of the trade-in as long as they match the same number of test points of the new test equipment to be purchased.

  1. The Trade-in policy allows for a "one for one" trade-in, meaning the trading-in of one old tester towards one new tester. Multiple older testers cannot be accumulated towards the purchase of a single new tester.
  2. The trade-in calculation is the same for all test equipment:
2.5% deduction per month from the original cost for the first 12 months (30% the first year), and 1.5% deduction each month thereafter (18% each additional year). The trade-in value is based on the original purchase price (was the original tester discounted?) and before taxes, COD charges and freight costs.
  3. The tester retains a 10% value of the original purchase price even when fully depreciated.
(It takes 4 years and 11 months to totally depreciate a tester using the calculation in #2 above.)
  4. Test equipment being traded-in must be in good/reasonable operating condition.
  5. Determine the original purchase price. (What was the original invoice amount of the tester being traded-in?)
  6. Even though an RMA number is given for the trade-in, the actual credit is "activated" when the tester (to be traded-in) is received back at Cirris.
  7. Customer is responsible for all freight costs. Both the return of the trade-in and shipment of the new tester.
  8. An invoice for the full amount of the new purchase is created and the trade-in "Credit" amount can then be deducted from the invoice.
  9. If multiple testers are to be traded-in, Cirris does not offer a volume purchase discount AND a trade-in "Credit" on the same transaction! Either a trade-in credit OR a volume discount is offered, not both!
  10. A trade-in credit cannot be offered when the "Installment Purchase" option is used to finance the new test equipment.

Procedure

  1. Sales person determines trade-in amount.
  2. A Quotation is prepared and sent to customer.
  3. An RMA Number is given to customer and the trade-in value is entered on the RMA/Credit paperwork.
  4. A Work Order for the new purchase is created and the Test equipment is shipped to customer.
  5. Customer is invoiced for total amount of new equipment.
  6. Test equipment to be traded-in arrives at Cirris and the "Return Material Authorization" (RMA) is closed out and the RMA becomes a "Credit". A credit invoice is mailed to customer.
  7. Customer pays the invoice less the credit amount.
