Cable/Harness Testing Made Easy. If your cable tester is programmed incorrectly, it is possible for bad cables to test as good and get shipped to your customer. This can occur when you don't properly VERIFY your test programs before testing. Do you waste time hand beeping cables to make sure you have a good sample cable thinking it solves this problem? Our newsletter this month focuses on PROGRAMMING, VERIFYING, and properly TESTING your cable assemblies and harnesses. If you have any questions or comments, call us at 1-800-441-9910. | Is Your Cable Tester Programmed Correctly? | |
- Have you ever shipped bad cables due to an incorrect test program? One of the more embarrassing defect-escapes is when a group of tested cables are all defective because they are all wired wrong in the same way. If you have ever shipped a batch of tested cables to a customer that are all the same, and all wired wrong, the most likely cause is that the test program was wrong. This happens when you create test programs by learning a first-article without properly verifying that it is a good one. The customer asks with disbelief "Were these cables ever tested?" Make sure you have a good test program (verify), don't waste a lot of time hand-beeping sample cables. See this month's new web page and video tutorial Verify Test Programs BEFORE Testing to explain the importance of verification when creating test programs and how to assure you have the right test program when building the same assembly in the future.
